Vietnamese Coffee Culture 101

A coffee lover from the Philippines is no match to a coffee lover in Vietnam. Back in my country, our common definition of coffee would be – bada bim bada boom, Nescafe 3 in 1!

Coffee was introduced to Vietnam by the French in the late 19th century. From then on, Vietnam became the world’s second-largest coffee producer and has also established itself as one of world’s finest.

Reminiscing my first cup and my first sip, I was literally jolted to my seat. All confused, I looked at my receipt and double checked if I had the correct order. It was plain brewed coffee alright but tasted like a double shot of espresso. Thought I’d go loco! At first I couldn’t bear how extremely strong coffee can be in this part of the world, but days after, I have grown addicted to it.

There are different regional coffee drink variations, I don’t even know where to start with. ối trời ơi 😀
